ECLAC/CEPAL Headquarters: Location of Day 1 and Day 2 of the Summit

The Global Textile Ministerial and Industry Summit will take place in Santiago, Chile, from June 15–17, 2026.

Organized by Ambition Loop in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme and the ZDHC Foundation, this event aims to accelerate coordination across the textile value chain to foster a sustainable and circular economy.

The global textile sector is at a turning point. Extended Producer Responsibility frameworks are advancing, chemical standards are being renegotiated, and the Global Framework on Chemicals is entering implementation.

COP31 will place waste and the circular economy at the heart of climate negotiations. The Santiago Summit is designed to consolidate the textile agenda before those negotiations begin, producing an Outcomes Note and commitments that will feed directly into COP31 and UNEA-8.

2026 Pillars

The summit focuses on four primary pillars:

EPR for Textiles

Defining strategies for extended producer responsibility (EPR) schemes, including eco-modulation and design requirements.

Chemicals & Standards

Aligning international standards regarding chemicals of concern, microfiber controls, and production processes.

Sustainable Consumption

Identifying policy tools to address overconsumption and support circular business models.

Trade Systems

Strengthening cooperation regarding second-hand markets, transboundary movements, and recycling infrastructure.
